I am an artist based in Bath, south west England. My work finds new ways of looking at things and makes comments on our world. I like to provide innovative, and imaginative solutions. To inspire people to better use of creative gifts. To create art, illustration, design that intrigues, illuminates and communicates. To think outside the box and make things happen. I can work with large corporations, smaller businesses or individuals. The values that I bring are experience, insight, creativity, hard work, economy. Work

Artist/Designer, self employed, 1989—present.
I have functioned successfully as a freelance for many years now. Clients are corporate and charity based. I design the concepts and also manage the production process.

Trainer, self-employed, 1991—present.
Providing training and consultancy on electronic publishing systems. Software products include: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Quark XPress, and web design applications. I also train in Apple OSX and Troubleshooting. In the main, I have originated my own courseware.

Magazine designer, Future Publishing 1987-89.
Worked on many magazines in addition to being the in-house illustrator. I helped move Future from old fashioned layout to electronic production to increase quality, save time and money.

Trainer/Training designer, Dixons Group plc 1980-1987.
Responsible for originating training materials, delivering courses and courseware. Writer of the retail operations guide. Also member staff committees, firstaider, social committee.

Store Manager, Dixons Photographic 1976-1980.
Also Field-based trainer. Managed three shops in this period. One shop quadrupled its sales.

Education and Qualifications
I have the London Certificate in Art and Design from Chelsea School of Art 1975.
Adobe Certified Expert InDesign.
Past certifications in other software products including Adobe Photoshop and Quark XPress.

Other Courses Undertaken:
DITB* Certified Trainer. Many software courses, both face to face and distant.
Photographic skills and techniques (various). Presentation skills.

Voluntary Work

I helped to run a major annual arts festival 2000-2006. That job involved managing 40 (all volunteers as well) people and a budget of £8000. Involvement in this occupied 11 months of the year, plus two weeks on-site.

I have visited schools to take classes in drawing, painting and cartooning. I have also done clay modelling with small groups and 10,000 people over a weekend.

I have built a clay city using 200+ volunteers and 10 tonnes of clay.

I am a member of the local NHS Mental Health Trust, and a member of the local Rethink steering group.

I provide tech support on Quark XPress and Adobe graphic arts applications.

*Distributive Industry Training Board, a government quango dissolved some years ago.
