Sketchbooks are important to most artists. Mine is usually with me and a fill one up about every four-six months. I call them the 'Everythimg' book because they have not only sketches, but notes, diary stuff - like the french map here, even shopping lists.

The map of France was drawn after a particulary gruelling drive from home to the campsite in France. Got stuck in absolutely terrible traffic.

The images of the cars and the steam engines are really just a bit more than a doodle. More a case of seeing if I could still draw roughly believable machines still. I did work on a private project on trains that I hoped I might sell to Weseex rail, but they got swallowed up by First Great Western before it got anywhere.

This little sketch is one of the early images for the Zac's Place group art project based on the sayings of Jesus. This one is "Blessed are the Persecuted". It shows the first christian martyr, Stephen being stoned. I'm named after him.
