Mechanisms

These are some of the early mechanisms.

The later ones, once they are ready to be shown will be added.

The mechanisms are approximately twice life size in the top photograph.

The lower photograph is mechanism number six and is approx 120mm long.

Both are made from etched brass, the top green bug has a patina added.

Making these made me sit and ponder how such devices, given another time line might have grown or evolved. Could creatures of metal, silicon and other chemicals have achieved some kind of life spontanously? What mechanism would cause this? What would they look like and how would they reproduce?

I don't consider myself a creationist, but time and time again the concept of an Irreducible mechanism floats through my head as I sit and design greater and better mechanisms.

But then if you have a design, then there has to be a designer, and who designs the designer?

Finally here's a PDF of the basic bug if you would like to make one up.
